Quick Fix VMware Not Working on Windows 10 #

The reason behind VMware not being compatible with Windows 10 is that Microsoft has recently removed VMware Workstation (versions prior to 15.1) from the Windows Application Compatibility Database. Thus, VMware Workstation can’t run because it’s not considered a compatible product.

Fortunately, we do have workarounds to get the VMware Workstation to work properly.

  1. Dismiss the message.
  2. Rename the VMware executable file to bypass the block.
  3. Uninstall the above updates.

Here is how:

First of all, click the Dismiss option on the error window to continue using VMware Workstation Pro.

If this does not help, go to the file location of VMware Workstation, such as C:\Program Files (x86)\VMware\VMware Workstation, then find and rename the vmware.exe file to vmwarea.exe.

Now you can have a try to re-launch VMware Workstation Pro. If it doesn’t work correctly, reboot your device and run the application.

If both fixes make no sense, revert the application name and uninstall the updates listed on the former part. Once done, restart your computer and then all should be normal.
